Vinyl Institute Hires Richard Krock as Technical Director

ARLINGTON, Va., June 16, 2009 – The Vinyl Institute announces the hiring of Richard Krock as its new Technical Director. Rich's first day of employment with the organization was June 15th.

As VI Technical Director, Rich will oversee technical and regulatory programs and activities, promote vinyl industry activities, and develop, implement, and manage policies and strategies to improve opportunities for industry compliance and stewardship, and prevent unwarranted regulations, restriction, and de-selection of vinyl. He will also contribute to legislative and regulatory advocacy efforts by identifying, analyzing, and recommending appropriate action on policy issues, and address policy-making bodies and other organizations influential in technical and regulatory issues affecting vinyl.

A licensed professional chemical engineer, Rich's background includes experience in the petroleum, vinyl, and polymer industries. Most recently, from 2006 to 2009, he was the Commercial Director for The Broadview Group LLC/Advanced Plastics Reclaiming in Elyria, Ohio, responsible for all feedstock purchases and finished product sales of a start-up separator and reclaimer of wire and cable chops, and the subsequent company that applied the technology to recycling polyethylene bottles from curbside and deposit collection. His recycling operation experience with the company also includes recovering all forms of PVC and other plastics from construction and demolition materials waste streams.

From 1975 to 1988, he worked for the Ashland Petroleum Company in Ashland, Kentucky, in a variety of technical engineering and economics planning positions, advancing to Global Commercial Manager, where he developed products, markets, and a global customer base to sell petroleum pitch and carbon fibers.

From 1988 to 2000, he worked for The Geon Company in Avon Lake, Ohio, in a variety of technical marketing roles, advancing to General Manager, Custom Injection Molding Business, where he led a team involved in specifying, selling, and servicing vinyl compounds for injection molded applications.

From 2000 to 2006, Rich worked for PolyOne Corporation, of Avon Lake, Ohio, holding a key position as Commercial Director for vinyl extrusion compounds and advancing to Business Manager, Surplus Inventory Services, running a corporate team responsible for vinyl, engineered materials, color concentrates and additives, raw material sales, and recycle content and repro products.

Vinyl Institute President Greg Bocchi noted, "We are fortunate to have someone with Rich's experience and expertise joining us to direct our technical programs and industry issues. Rich brings to us strong technical knowledge of PVC and other plastics, and a background in recycling operations which will be one of his initial responsibilities."

The Vinyl Institute represents the leading manufacturers involved in the production of PVC vinyl resin and vinyl compounds in the United States, and promotes the value of PVC and vinyl products to society.
